Argyle vs Norwich

On Saturday 5th April Norwich City are making the colossal journey down to Plymouth hoping to put things right after their nightmare performance last time out at Home Park. The Canaries were thumped 6-2 in their last visit to the south-west and even found themselves 4-0 down before half time. A Morgan Whittaker hat-trick helped Argyle put on their most dominant display of the last two seasons and itโ€™s safe to say Argyle would be absolutely ecstatic to put out a performance like that this Saturday.

Norwich have already got their own back on Argyle this season; beating them 6-1 at Carrow Road on a Tuesday night in November, with Borja Sainz getting a hat-trick this time. This thrashing felt like the beginning of Argyleโ€™s decline. There was an acceptance among the Green Army, after the poor result, that the second season in the Championship was to be a tough one.

In their last game, Norwich grabbed a late winner against West Brom, thanks to The

Canaries main man Josh Sargent who has 18 G/A (goals and assists) this season. Last season. Sargent was kept out of the team for the first half of the season by Ireland international Adam Idah. Idah got 7 G/A in the first half of the season but then was loaned out to Celtic to help them retain the Scottish Premier League title. Sargent had big boots to fill and he did just that, bagging 16 goals driving his team into a play-off spot. Norwich missed out on a Wembley final but will be looking to get the job done in the play-offs this season. Norwich sit just 5 points off a top 6 spot which theyโ€™ll be looking to close in the last 7 games. However, another 6 teams are 5 or less points off a play-off spot making Norwichโ€™s promotion push even more of a challenge. Theyโ€™ll definitely be looking to capitalize on a struggling Argyle side and tighten the points difference.

Argyle’s desperation for a win has turned mandatory. It seems as if this is the final sink or swim for Argyle and just a draw would only prolong the pain. The Greens last win was away to Portsmouth in early March. After that, they failed to beat Derby in a season deciding six pointer and held Watford to a 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road.

It is clear that Argyle have been more progressive in their play in recent games and have definitely improved under Muslic but it just doesnโ€™t seem enough to keep them in the Championship. A win however, may ignite a spark of belief for fans and players of Plymouth Argyle football club. The Green Army are craving for something to get their hopes up. Derby beating Preston has almost put the nail in the coffin. However, lots of results have seen several teams within touching distance of the relegation zone.

This game is tipped to be a good watch for โ€ he neutral as both teams are looking to reach their end of season aspirations. The odds are weighted towards Norwich City which means the pressure is on them just as much. Both teams will be going at it which could lead it to be an end to end thriller.

If Norwich were to score first it would almost be done and dusted there. Argyle have only won two games after going behind. The players have struggled to lift themselves up after conceding and often find that their negativity in play costs them to concede more.

Whatever the result. Whatever happens at the end of the season. The Green Army continues. Through 100 point seasons and bottom of the league seasons.

Support.
